Nellie's Never Enough Sox Club |
![]() |
Nellie Never Enough Socks Club is named after sweet Nellie, a delightful West Highland White Terrier who’s spent countless hours dutifully curled up next to For Yarn’s Sake owner Anne as yet another sock was being created on the needles. Four unique and fun socks are planned, each with a pattern and yarn created exclusively for the club by local artisans. Yup, you can only get these beautifully designed patterns and amazingly vibrant hand-dyed yarns as a club member. And membership is limited, so they will only be available for a short time. The kits available individually but beware, priority goes to annual members, and once those are gone, there shall be no more to be had!
Don’t miss out – join today! Here’s what’s in store for you.
Sock 4 –" Italian Summer" - New Release !
The final installment of Nellie's Never Enough Socks Club Inaugural year is inspired by one of owner Anne's absolute favorite areas - Venice and the Northern Region of Italy, where bold red wine reigns and the summer months exude warm shades of green and yellow. In this vein, Pico Accuardi Dyeworks has created a romantic colorway exclusively for us called "Veneto" - a playful blend of greens, golds and burgundy red, created using the thickened skins of Walla Walla onions and Calendula petals. David Castillo's pattern design inspiration was the sense of adventure and brave spirit elicited by the yarn's colors, like the "Golden Compass" character, Pantalaimon - a spiritual companion to author Phillip Pullman's heroine, Lyra.
The pattern works either toe-up or cuff-down. If you do one of each, you'll find them remarkably identical, with just a very subtle difference. And the heel is an Afterthought Heel, knit last. Indulge your own sense of adventure and brave spirit by exploring both sock making techniques!
Sock 3 – "Shells 'n Waves." - just a few remaining !
Meant to inspire visions of warm times to come, Nellie selected Twinkle Toes yarn from Chameleon Colorworks - a luscious blend of Superwash Merino wool and Tencel. Exclusive to our club, the "Nellie's Mirage" colorway is a swirl of purples, lavenders, blues and dark pinks. This beautiful pattern was designed by northwest local Tess Mattos of Polar Bear Patterns, this lacy sock named "Shells and Waves" cleverly uses the colors to create waves with little shells embedded along their paths. Close your eyes and you can almost hear the waves lap against the sandy beach as the sun sets on the horizon.
Sock 2 – “Rings.” - just one left !
This amazing pattern was designed by Portland’s own Kristin Spurkland, and was meant to inspire us for the upcoming Winter Olympics.
The yarn was dyed by Lorajean Kelley, the creative force behind Portland’s KnittedWit yarns. Again, the colors are representative of the Vancouver Winter Olympics – a gorgeous blend of greens, yellows, blues and pale orange. Don’t miss this one!
